Hillary's Earmarks Tops Among Pork Requests

As reported in The Hill newspaper, Clinton has requested nearly $2.3 billion - BILLION - in federal earmarks for 2009, almost three times the largest amount received by a single senator this year. According to The Hill, the total amount Clinton is seeking far exceeds the $837 million secured last year by Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi, the ranking Republican on the Appropriations Committee, who took home the largest dollar amount of earmarks in the current fiscal year’s spending bills.

With so much money being traded through these earmarks, it makes me (and I don't think I'm alone)a bit curious and nervouse about how much of taxpayers money has been abused by this method. Earmarks have recently been a hot topic with Presidential Nominee John McCain vowing to veto any bill that has them attached which sounds good to me. Get rid of them all together...if something is that important to require hundreds of millions of dollars, let it be a bill itself.
